William Gaffaney, senior partner with Gaffaney, Cudney & Lieberman, was born in Los Angeles, California in 1945. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (1967) and Master of Arts, Geography (1972) from California State University, Los Angeles. There he was a student body officer, president of his fraternity and member of the gymnastics team. After graduation, Mr. Gaffaney worked as a marketing representative for IBM Corporation and then upon earning his Master's degree, served as Director of Environmental Education for Humboldt County Schools and Associate Professor at Humboldt State University. He then changed direction and entered law school, graduating from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1982. He has been in practice in Sacramento and Cameron Park ever since. After a broad civil litigation practice, Mr. Gaffaney has limited his practice to those areas he thoroughly enjoys and has acquired specialized experience in: Formation of business entities; partnerships corporations and limited liability companies. Real estate transactions, title issues, commercial and residential. Trust administration and litigation. Estate planning integrating complex business and real estate issues. Large probate estates. Elder abuse litigation. Mediation in probate and trust disputes. Mr. Gaffaney has lectured and presented numerous seminars on estate planning and elder abuse in northern California and is recognized as a "Preeminent Lawyer" in his field by Martindale-Hubbell. Over the years, Mr. Gaffaney has litigated and successfully appealed probate, business and real estate cases, resulting in published case precedents in courts throughout northern California. He continues to serve as a mediator, judge protem and expert witness in these areas. Mr. Gaffaney is rated "AV" by Martindale-Hubbell, a rating bestowed on those attorneys who have earned an exemplary reputation in the legal community for ethical standards and legal ability. Mr. Gaffaney is an avid snow skier, water skier and sailor. With his wife of 37 years, he maintains a sailboat in southern California, enjoying rugular cruises to the offshore islands, Mexico, and occassional long distance ocean racing. He also enjoys the California Delta and keeps a small powerboat at Isleton.
